Kia Ray Concept

Kia Ray is a prototype of a car that is designed to be a fuel-efficient, environmentally conscious vehicle. At the Chicago Auto Show, Kia Motors entered the green car competition with the Kia Ray, unveiling this hybrid prototype that can be electrically recharged through a standard electrical outlet.

It has a 106.3 inch wheelbase and an aerodynamic design. The company claims the Kia Ray can cover as many as 50 miles without a battery charge. In its bid to be more eco-friendly, the tires are skinny and even the audio system has been designed to use less electricity.[5] According to Car and Driver, the Kia Ray's debut at the Chicago Auto Show, "represents an ambitious confluence of style and technology, and was arguably one of the strongest traffic-stoppers at the show.

The vehicle is part of the EcoDynamics sub-brand of Kia Motors and is designed to get 202 miles per gallon with a range of 746 miles. The company says the prototype was designed "with lightweight and recycled materials, as well as with hexagonal roof-top solar cells embedded in the glass roof panel that power extra lighting or climate control systems".

kia kee Concept

The Kia Kee was revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Kee is a sports coupe concept based around a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive platform, with the possibility of an all-wheel-drive layout.

The styling of the Kia Kee is intended not only to gather interest in the concept itself, but also to preview a new styling language for the company, and raise the profile of the South Korean marque.

Kia Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer said of the concept: "Kee has to communicate a design language that will be seen on all future Kia products. That language has to be stated in certain elements of the visual representation – lines, shapes, details. But it has to be consistent and easy to understand. It must be visually strong and purposeful but it must be capable of being transferred from this sports coupe concept to a city runabout, a family saloon, a load-lugging MPV or a go-anywhere SUV."

The Kia Kee concept has a simple profile highlighted with interesting details. Items like the small rear side windows which allow for almost seamless rear and side glass, the electronic micro-switch door release set into the side-window glass, and the dramatic headlights with integrated LED strips which frame the outer edge of the air inlets positioned under the lights.

Inside the Kia Kee concept the layout is decidedly sports orientated. Behind the square-bottomed steering wheel are paddles to shift the six-speed sequential gearbox. Instead of a standard gear stick an ergonomically designed lever sits atop the milled aluminium centre console and requires only a nudge forward or backward to select drive mode. The top of the computer mouse-like gear lever flips up to reveal the electronic starter button. The rear of the Kee's passenger compartment is sufficiently spacious to allow four adults to travel in the car when necessary.

Power for the Kee comes from a 2.7 litre V6 engine, producing 200 horsepower. The Kee uses light-weight aluminium or plastic panels and components wherever possible in order to reduce weight and further improve performance.

Kia Kue Concept

The Kia Kue concept was revealed at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Although purely a concept, the Kia Kue does, however, hint at future styling directions for Kia Motors.

The Kia Kue concept is equipped with a 400-horsepower, DOHC, supercharged 4.6-liter V8 which develops 400 lb-ft of torque. To help the driver harness the power a full-time all wheel drive system with predictable driving characteristics for both on and off road is fitted.

With its wheels pushed to the corners and body tautly stretched over its underpinnings, the Kia Kue is a simple and attractive design. Swept back headlights connect to the front grille to create a clean, aggressive down-road appearance. The side window shape flows into the rear backlight where two centerline hinging doors open to access rear storage. A single side door on either side of the Kue opens scissor style for easy entry and exit.

Inside the four sear Kia Kue concept is a clean, athletic theme which complements the exterior. A technology-driven interface inside the Kue is designed to adjust to driver and passenger preference and is the focus of the interior functionality. Touch pad and motion-sensing controls are used to adjust audio and climate settings, and the entire system is programmable so that one surface may activate the stereo for one driver and temperature for another. Rear passengers have their own, separate interface.

KIA Koup Concept

The Kia Forte Koup is a compact coupe and the first coupe from Kia Motors in America, that was unveiled in production form at the 2009 New York International Auto Show. The car was originally unveiled as a concept car as the Kia Koup on 20 March 2008 at the New York International Auto Show. The Forte Koup is badged as the Kia Cerato Koup in Australia and New Zealand, and is called the Kia Shuma in China.

Kia has stated that the Forte Koup would be aimed at driving enthusiasts. The concept sports a twin screw turbocharged version of the 2.0 liter Theta II four cylinder engine. The production version omitted the turbocharger. With direct injection, the normally aspirated motor puts out an 144 lb-ft. of torque at 6,200 rpm and 156 horsepower (116 kW).[citation needed]

The production version features both 2.0L and 2.4L four-cylinder engines, and comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic. Optional in the top trim level is a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Koup is the basis for the new Kia Forte sedan, which made its debut at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. Both coupe and sedan production models became available as of late 2009.

KIA Soulster Concept

Kia introduced its little Soul'ster concept at this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Soul'ster is a 2-door four-seater with genes borrowed from a micro-car, a roadster and a pickup truck. A soft top and 2-piece roof lets the driver configure seating to suit the needs of the day. Front seats are cantilevered, and from some angles appear to be suspended in air. The Soul'ster is based on the Kia Soul, due in dealer showrooms sometime this spring.
