Mitsubishi iMiev Sport Air concept

The production version of the i MiEV has a single permanent magnet synchronous motor mounted on the rear axle with a power output of 47 kW and torque output 180 N·m. The vehicle uses a single-speed reduction gear transmission and has a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack consists of 88 cells. The car's top speed is 130 kilometres per hour (80 mph).Recharging is estimated to take 14 hours from a 110 volt power supply, seven hours from a 220 volt power supply and as little as 30 minutes from a quick charging station. There are 60 such station in Japan in early 2010.
Mitsubishi D5 concept

MITSUBISHI Concept D:5 is a concept for the next-generation Delica model. In a go-anywhere-anytime, high-mobility, high-functionality new 4WD mono-box concept, it wraps together the classy living space and functionality sought by owners in today's minivan and Delica's legendary all-terrain capabilities. Deriving from its advanced 4WD system, MITSUBISHI Concept D:5 offers a refined but rugged design that projects a reassuring sense of protective safety.

To deliver maximum driving pleasure and in line with Mitsubishi's All Wheel Control (AWC) philosophy, MITSUBISHI Concept D:5 employs the same electronically controlled four-wheel drive system as Outlander. The powertrain mates a new 2.4-liter MIVEC engine to a Sport Mode 6-speed CVT to deliver brawny all-surface go-anywhere performance. To bring a reassuring sense of safety that is more than skin deep, MITSUBISHI Concept D:5 incorporates active safety vehicle (ASV) technology that assists the driver in operating his vehicle safely and minimizes strain. MITSUBISHI Concept D:5 also brings new active and passive safety technologies to the minivan/SUV category.
Mitsubishi Concept CT

Designed at the Mitsubishi Motors Design Center in Cypress, California, and debuted at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, the Mitsubishi Concept-CT was a compact 4-door hatchback powered by 4 in-wheel electric motors and a 3 cylinder petrol engine.

The Concept CT was designed to be practical as well as fun, while returning an advantageous mpg. The 4 in-wheel electric motors are powered by batteries located under the rear floor and in the front. The fuel tank for the 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder engine - which drives the rear wheels and acts as a generator for the batteries - is positioned at the front also. Total power for the Concept-CT is 134 horsepower (100 kw).

Inside the Mitsubishi Concept-CT, design of the main controls is influenced by motorcycle forks, and clean simple lines are everywhere. The center console, floating between the front seats, houses a fingerprint reading security system, as well as a computer touch pad interface.

The thin, floating front seats and rear contoured bench seats comfortably accommodate 4 passengers. And the thin cushions and seatbacks increase available interior space.

The Mitsubishi Concept-CT provides a glimpse into the future of hybrid Mitsubishi vehicles incorporating in-wheel electric motors, a production goal Mitsubishi hopes to achieve by 2010.
Mitsubishi EZ MIEV Concept

The Mitsubishi EZ MIEV concept uses 4 in-wheel electric motors for power, like the Mitsubishi Concept CT which was shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2006.

MIEV stands for - Mitsubishi In-wheel motor Electric Vehicle - and EZ describes the versatile seating arrangement which allows the interior to transform from a space capable of seating 5 adults in a conventional manner, to a circular lounge area complete with flat-screen TV. The passenger seats can also be folded flat into the floor to create a large cargo space.

For a single box city car, the Mitsubishi EZ MIEV is surprisingly attractive, and has managed to escaped the usual gimmicks attached to similar concepts. The in-wheel electric motors are a feature which Mitsubishi hope to put in production cars before 2010. Despite being a reasonably radical design feature they are also extremely practical for this type of car, freeing up space inside the EZ MIEV where the engine and transmission would normally be. And because an electric motor provides 100% of its torque from 0 rpm they are well suited to nippy city driving. Not to mention they are environmentally friendly.

Overall the Mitsubishi EZ MIEV is a semi-radical concept which is well thought out and a real taste of the not-so-distant city car.
Mitsubishi PX-MiEV Concept

he Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV is a prototype plug-in hybrid crossover utility vehicle, first exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in September 2009.It uses a 85 kW (116 PS; 114 hp) 1.6 litre gasoline engine as a powerplant and generator for two 30 kW electric motors, one on each axle. Mitsubishi claims it to be capable of up to 50 kilometres per litre (141 mpg-imp; 118 mpg-US) under optimal driving conditions.

The vehicle's exterior styling supposedly gives clues to the design of the next generation of Mitsubishi Outlander, as well as showcasing some technologies which could make it into production.

The Concept PX was also exhibited at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2009,and the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010.
Mitsubishi Fuso Canter Eco-D hybrid concept

Take a look at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation's (MFTBC) new concept for the future of light-duty dump trucks. This concept vehicle sports a hybrid diesel and electric drivetrain in a parallel configuration, meaning that both the 3.0 liter diesel engine, the 35 kW electric motor or a combination of the two can power the vehicle at any time. Expect the electric motor to shoulder the load at low speeds. One innovative feature of this concept is that the electric motor, not the diesel engine, powers the dumping mechanism. That means that when the vehicle is stationary and being used solely for loading and unloading, no internal combustion engine is necessary for operation. The necessary electric power for the system is stored in a lithium ion battery back.

MFTBC already offers a similar hybrid system in the Canter Eco Hybrid light-duty truck. That truck has been on the market since July of 2006. The Canter Eco-D concept was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Mitsubishi MMR525 concept

The Mitsubishi MMR525 concept is Mitsubishi's entrant into the annual LA Auto Show Design Challenge. For 2008 the brief was to design a motorsport machine for the year 2025.

The Mitsubishi MMR525 Rally Racer concept is a wild and crazy off-road machine which looks like a cross between a futuristic dune buggy and a spacecraft. Of special note are the innovative multidirectional rollers mounted to the perimeter of the 'wheel' for increased traction and maneuverability.

Dave O'Connell, Chief designer at Mitsubishi Motors R&D of America said of the MMR525 concept and design brief. "This year's Motorsport 2025 project is just the sort of assignment the designers at Mitsubishi Motors dream of. It's rooted it the reality of automotive competition that our company is so successful at, but lets us look way out on the horizon as to where technology may take us. We all loved hearing the words, 'design a race car,' but really smiled when we learned it was a race car for the year 2025. That combined with linking the car to some of the fabulous racing heritage that's taken place here in California makes it indeed one of the most exciting projects we've ever worked on. My dream would be to actually build and drive this car on the course it was designed for."

While the appearance of the Mitsubishi MMR525 concept is shocking, the multi-terrain, omnidirectional wheels consist of eight independently-controlled motors, allowing for "8 x 4" wheel drive so that the car can be driven forward while pointing in any direction. The MMR25 drives sideways into a corner and points the nose of the car outwards before even reaching the apex of the curve while driving sideways or backwards.

The Mitsubishi MMR25 also uses special Oblique Aerodynamics to give the vehicle aero advantages. The center wing acts as a spoiler, actuated by pneumatic and fabricated from Memory Metal Alloy while the front and rear spoilers double as suspension blades which are able to control stiffness and ride height.
